Tailored Funerals - Something Special
Sometimes a family want something different and we are very happy to help make that happen.
We are passionate about ensuring that every funeral service or thanksgiving service is as individual as the person we are called upon to serve. Often it is the smallest things that can make a difference without any additional cost.

Some of the ways this has been achieved include themed services. For example, one family told us that their loved one adored the colour blue. We were pleased to be able to weave blue flowers into the willow coffin, have blue flowers pictured on the Order of Service (often known as hymn sheets) and have some blue tubs of blue flowers displayed as the funeral cortège journeyed to the cemetery. Mourners were invited to wear a 'touch of blue,' which helped to make the Service more of a celebration of the lady's life.
Pink is popular too with ladies and people are often surprised to learn that pink coffins and caskets are available. Willow coffins with interwoven coloured braids are often chosen too.
Other themed funerals included favourite football team shirt and scarf wearing.
We arranged a funeral for an avid golf player where we were pleased to display one of his golf clubs on the coffin top and his ashes were later returned in a golfing themed decorative scatter tube. All these small things can make what seems like a very dark time for people left behind that little bit brighter.
We are proud in the Forest of Dean to have arranged a steam roller funeral procession as well as using vintage lorries and tractors.
Jazz bands and cornet players are often requested as well as brass bands and choirs.
A fan of the Radio's 'The Archers' soap opera had the theme tune played as his coffin was carried into church which brightened the faces of the mourners.
On another occasion we were told that the deceased had adored butterflies. Again, we were able to add a butterfly theme to the Service and to the floral decorations.
An elephant and safari themed coffin was another request which we were proud to arrange. The family were delighted when they visited our Chapel of Rest to see some elephant ornaments on display just for their visit.
Just recently a couple bought prepaid funeral plans from us which request a motorcycle hearse and sidecar.
It is not unusual to be asked to provide a horse-drawn hearse carriage which is a spectacular sight.
Military funerals are also familiar to us when we can arrange for bugle and cornet players, flag draping, standard bearers etc. to assist at services.
We can provide bearers if required and we are proud to always offer to carry and not just use a trolley to take someone into a church, chapel or crematorium on their last journey. We will never rush or hurry any family - it's an honour to be asked to assist and that is what we are here to do.
